Stefaan Poortman joined Global Heritage Fund in 2005 and currently serves as Director of International Development and Partnerships. Stefaan’s work with GHF focuses the development and management of institutional and project partnerships, fundraising and project finance from strategic and institutional partners, project and organizational management and the design and management of GHF’s global community development programs. Stefaan is most actively involved with GHF Projects in Guatemala, Colombia, Peru, Turkey, Libya and Cambodia.
Stefaan has twelve years of experience with international non-profit organizations. Prior to his work with Global Heritage Fund, Stefaan worked at the World Resources Institute (WRI) in the Climate and Energy Program, focusing on the development of voluntary corporate greenhouse gas accounting and reporting programs in Mexico, India, the Philippines and South Africa. Stefaan also worked with Chemonics International, helping to develop on-line project monitoring and evaluation tools for environmental sustainability projects and also with the World Foundation for Environment and Development (WFED), helping to broker bioprospecting agreements between conservation areas and biotech companies in the U.S. and internationally. Stefaan holds a MA with honors in Economics from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, with a focus on developmental and environmental economics. Stefaan is fluent in Dutch and conversant in French.
