The conference 'INDUS Archaeological Technical Training Workshop' aims to increase understanding of technology applications used for archaeological site management in the Indus Saraswati region of India and Pakistan. Specific attention will be given to the use of web and software applications that can be used for modeling sites in 3-dimension and disseminating information over the web. Other themes of the conference are "how to work together to develop a regional plan for the Indus/Saraswati Region" while implementing principles of: sustainable development, conflict resolution, and the economic needs of contemporary Indian society
These themes will be explored through presenting current work being done that can be shared with the audience who will in turn, receive hands-on technical training through short excercises. It is highly recommended that participants bring their laptop and install application prior to attending this conference.
This conference will provide the participants a forum for learning from a large cadre of archaeology experts and to further develop technical skills that can be applied to the developmnent of a regional plan.
GHF promotes sustainable development and poverty relief within the discipline of archaeology. Sessions will be organised by the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda with staff and research students from MS Baroda, including Kuldeep Bhan (Director MS Baroda Archaeology Department), Mark Kenoyer , Ms. Josephine Thomspon and Ms. Kalpana Desai.
Speakers
The conference aims to bring together archaeologists, conservators, heritage managers, developing agencies, and funding bodies, PHD Students, journalists, economists, NGOs and GOs. Special focus will be given to academic scholars, experts and government representatives from Gujarat and Indus Saraswati Region.
Dissemination
It is proposed to publish edited proceedings from the conference. Some participants have already agreed to produce their papers. The edited volume will be a significant contribution to the study and practice of site management in the INDUS/Saraswati region.
These websites will be used to circulate a second call for papers, and will be used to disseminate further information about the conference in due course. The website will also be developed as a research tool for MA and PhD candidates, detailing abstracts, discussions, proceedings and useful links, in collaboration with Global Heritage Fund and MS Baroda. |
