| A June, 2004 GHF Mission
to Foguang Temple in the sacred Wutai
Mountains in Shanxi province raised $320,000
in private funding to complete restoration,
site conservation and planning of ‘The
Fountainhead of Chinese Classical Architecture’.
GHF Trustees for Global Heritage David
and Cecilia Lee, Debbie Pao and the Feng
Family, led private GHF funding for completion
of China’s only remaining Tang Dynasty
(9th Century) temple, the oldest wooden
building in China. GHF secured equal matching
funding from Shanxi Province and the Beijing
Central government.
In 2004, Global Heritage Fund completed
six major conservation projects and undertook
four master conservation plans over the
past six months. GHF also hosted the World
Bank-sponsored Iraq Heritage Congress
in Petra, Jordan and the 2004 Mirador
Basin Summit in Washington DC. To date,
GHF has raised $1.8 million in U.S. grants
and funding, as well as $1.8 million in
in-country matching funding. It is the
support of our Trustees for Global Heritage
and major foundations that make GHF’s
international conservation success possible. |
