Located in Cluj county in northern Transylvania, Banffy Castle is one of the most important buildings in the region, and certainly the most important Renaissance-style castle in Romania. Originally built in the 13th century AD by forefathers of the Banffy family, the castle was embellished, enlarged and renovated by generations of Banffy descendants.
