Gobekli Tepe

Pillar and Wall Conservation
Global Heritage Fund is pleased to announce that the first conservation assessment at Göbekli Tepe in southeast Turkey took place in late September, and thorough documentation of the conservation project by means of 3D laser scanning, enhanced by drawings, sketches, photography and written descriptions, is being conducted during the rest of the 2011 season.

The GHF Banteay Chhmar Conservation Team has discovered a large gilded bronze pinnacle, found in a crevice of the southwest wall of a face tower.

This is the first example of a pinnacle found at Banteay Chhmar by the conservation team.

It brought sunshine to an otherwise wet monsoon season at the site!
